Brief Bio: Michael
Hirst has been an award winning professional photographer
for over 25 years. Michael hopes to create images
that evoke the viewers feelings, their intellect,
and an understanding of the subject.
Review: Michael Hirst's poignant image of a
child with Leukaemia sets the mind in motion about
our attitudes towards touching the sick. Perhaps the
child's hand reaches out to touch, or perhaps it gestures
a signal to stop. The angle of the hand might suggest
a blessing from some holy, exuberant person. As you
return to view this image it becomes ever more personal,
moving, and a testament to the power of the human
spirit.

Review: Taking
the icon of a postcard, Enrico has produced a thought
provoking movie. A postcard seeks to capture the essence
of a place in a single snap. In Greetings
from Naples, the moment of a snap is stretched as
we remotely 'touch' the screen with our mouse. The
roughly rendered hand remains removed, detached from
its desire. Like the memory of a place, the postcard
repeats obsessively the moments of our passion and
experience. |
