| Biography |
From
a young age I have expressed a keen Flair and
Interest in Creativity. I have developed and
furthered my creative skills through out my Education.
In particular, I specialised in Fashion and Textiles,
as my chosen degree subject at University, with
confidence and enthusiasm.
I have excellent people skills that I have acknowledged
through my past employment, and found University
and my recent year long, around the world trip
travels, have enhanced my ability to adapt and
mix with
varied people. Through out life, I have built up
a wide network of friends and associates from all
over the world. I feel this is a strong
personality trait.
I am very aware of the fashion around today, and have great knowledge of clothing
and style. I have previously worked as a Wardrobe Assistant for a well known
T.V company in England.
In work, I perform well under pressure, as I turn it into a positive
attribute, to motivation and good time keeping.
Through my determination as a new designer, I have a keen ambition to
make an impact in the fashion and costume, T.V film and theatre Industry.
My Achievements are :
- In 2002 I visited Paris on a trip, with
University. I visited the Premier Trade Fair and also went to the Indigo Show,
where a selection of my Fabric samples and designs were featured.
- At Clothes Show (Birmingham) 2002 a selection of my Fashion
drawings were chosen to support my University Catwalk Show.
- At Clothes Show 2003 an outfit was chosen from my Second Year Fashion Collection,
to represent my University Catwalk Show.
- A floor length hand Knitted cloak, I designed and made in my Second year at
University, was featured on T.V at Liverpool Albert Docks, outside the TATE gallery.
It was chosen as part of the Liverpool European Capital of Culture award. Worn
and presented by local
celebrities, and featured in the Daily Post Newspaper in a full length Photograph.
- In 2004 an outfit from my Final Graduate Collection was chosen to
represent my University, as part of a private viewing for Cherie Blair
our Prime Ministers Wife.
- While travelling in Malaysia in 2005, I met a Chinese fashion
designer, who took me to the Batik silk catwalk show in Kuala Lumpur. I
watched the latest Batik silk trends, from the Top Asian designers.
- While travelling through Wellington, New Zealand in 2006 I was
lucky enough to visit the “Lord of the Rings” exhibition, which held
all of the costumes and props used, in all three films.
I have just recently come back this year 2006, from an around the world trip.
The trip lasted one year; I travelled through Thailand, Malaysia, Australia,
New Zealand, Mexico, and America. I feel that I have benefited from seeing so
many new and old cultures, art, fashion and experiences, and this has left me
with many new and fresh ideas. |

Knit
skills
I learnt to hand knit at a young age. I furthered
my skills at
University, and developed new, original, hand and
machine knit techniques.
I like to experiment with knit samples in my design
and fashion wear,
and used the felting technique in my graduate
fashion collection, using lamb’s wool and
cashmeres.
Fabric manipulation and pattern cutting techniques
I enjoy using fabrics to create a toile and 3d
shapes for design inspiration. My strong textiles
background has benefited my understanding of working
fashion and textiles together, therefore creating
my own fabrics to complete my designs.
I
am now able to; dye, print, heat transfer fabrics
and
also pattern cut with confidence. |
