How do I search
for creative professionals?
There are several ways you can search for creative professionals
at AbleStable:

Use Search
to return broad results

Use the horizontal
multicoloured 'Creative Area' buttons available on our
Homepage and many other
pages on our site to 'drill down' through Creative Areas
and their associated Disciplines. This method produces
fast focussed results.

Use our Directory
Index which provides a complete list of Creative Areas,
Disciplines, and Job Descriptions at AbleStable. This
allows you to gain a broad picture of the kinds of Creative
Areas and Disciplines available at AbleStable.
If you're visiting AbleStable for the first time you'll
notice sixteen Creative Areas below the main AbleStable
header (the first Creative Area is named 'Buildings',
the second 'Crafts' etc). A Creative Area is simply a
place you'll begin your search. By using a Creative Area
button you'll go to a page with a number of Disiplines
that feature in that Creative Area. The same Discipline
may appear in several Creative Areas (for example, you'll
find the Disipline 'Set Design' in the Creative Areas
'Film', 'Television', and 'Theatre'). Our Directory is
fully crossed referenced, so don't worry about searching
in the wrong area.
Anyone visiting AbleStable has the facility to 'drill
down' through our directory until they find a list of
creative professionals who may be suitable for their requirements.
People seeking creative professionals should spend time
comparing the profiles of creative professionals to judge
who best suits their needs.

What is a Creative
Area?
A Creative Area (for example, Design) is a place to
start your search for a creative professional. Creative
Areas contain fully cross-referenced Disciplines
(eg Set Design) as they may fall into a number of Creative
Areas (eg Theatre and Film).

What
are Disciplines?
A Discipline is a field of creative endeavor. An example
of a Discipline would be Choreography. The Creative Area
this Discipline comes under is Dance. The
Creative Area is a broad starting point with many Disciplines
falling inside it.
To say you practice Dance would not be particularly useful
when it comes to a Directory entry as this description
would take in everything associated with Dance: the Choreography,
Lighting Design, Costume Design, Music Composition etc.
We therefore need to describe Dance in a more meaningful
way by disecting its componants. Each componant has a
practitioner, and some componants, though not all, have
creative practitioners. These creative practitioners or
creative professionals as we call them, have particular
areas they are especially skilled in. These areas are
their Disiplines.
