Server temporarily
down: At 9.15pm (GMT) 25 July we lost all
connectivity to our primary network due to all fibres
to our service being affected by an outage at a BT
(British Telecom) exchange at which all our servers'
lines terminate for backbone connection. Despite having
multiple fibres running into our servers' building
as the problem was related to BT, the failure of a
batch of their megastream bearers at the exchange
resulted in a complete traffic breakdown. While all
our servers and services were working without any
issues, all traffic into and out of our network was
stopped. BT resolved the problem at about 1.30am (GMT)
26 July resulting in just over 3 hours of downtime.
We apologise to all our users who attempted to visit
our site during this period.

about AbleStable®

Member
Area: Colour Scheme Altered (28 July 02)
As a result of constructive feedback from some of
our Members we have changed the colour scheme of the
Member Area at AbleStable®. The new colours
provide a clearer reading environment. We hope you
like the changes.
Exhibitions Area (22 July 02)
AbleStable® has begun developing a new
Exhibitions Area. The Exhibitions Area will be a carefully
curated forum of permanent and short-term on-line
exhibitions that anyone may freely submit work for.
This initiative is part of our Community Development
Policy.
If you'd like to help make the Exhibitions Area at
AbleStable® a success visit our special
Feedback page
where you can contribute to the development of it.
Community Development Policy
(4 July 02)
AbleStable® has developed a Community Development
Policy, the aim of which is to support creative professionals,
businesses, and organisations in the creative industries.
Our first strategic policy decision was to develop
the NPM Partner Scheme where non-profit-making organisations
can enjoy Partner status without incurring a yearly
cost (AbleStable® will meet all Partner
fees for non-profit-making organisations).
We want to see AbleStable® evolving through
debate with all our users. Visit our Suggestions
page now and contribute to the continuing development
of AbleStable®.

Member
Area redesigned (29 July 2002)

The Member Area at AbleStable® has been
improved as a result of Member feedback. Changes include:
change of colour design and implementation of matching
context navigational buttons to aid readability; new
registration invitation; new 'why register' pop-up
window link explaining the advantages of joining AbleStable®;
new welcome message. Thanks to all who took time in
contributing to this update.
Beta site launched
(4 July 2002)
The beta launch of AbleStable® took place
during summer 2002.
Our beta site establishes a base of registered creative
professionals at AbleStable® and enables
drill-down searching of creative professionals. Although
extensive off-line testing of our site has already
been carried out prior to our launch, the beta phase
continues this process with particular emphases on
usability issues. A further element of this phase
is to ensure AbleStable® is easily located
on the major search engines and directories.
