• New Freeware: Test Screens: Test your monitor for sharpness, moiré, geometry, convergence, high voltage supply stability, brightness, colour quality and more.
• Creative News: News Centre: selected arts and media highlights brought to you in association with Guardian Unlimited, the premier Internet news service based in the UK.

July 2003

• New Column: Play: Being Creative: Play is often viewed as a pastime that is more for enjoyment and diversion rather than an activity of any significance. For many however, play is an ongoing and crucial element that is at the heart of their identity.
• Directory Improvements: The Discipline 'Caricature' is now available within the two Creative Areas 'Illustration' and 'Visual Art' (previously only available within the Creative Area Visual Art).
• New Tool: Splash Paint: Paint online with Splash, a great Flash painting program with a surprising array of options and commands (requires Flash plug-in).
• Website Award Verification has been improved with a new layout that now features a screenshot of the Award winner's site.
• A new Play Area at AbleStable® is set to launch during August 2003. The Play Area will be free to access and feature some great online arcade and logic games, as well as creative activities. Playing is a vital component of creativity, and with the introduction of this new service we hope to inject a sense of fun and creative exploration.
• Our Homepage has been updated with newly design image links to our Website Critique and Competitions areas, and announces our forthcoming Play area.
• Our Creative Glossary is expanded with five new additional entries relating to colour.
• All syndication article and review licensee pages are updated with an improved informational window.
• New Article: The Colour Guide: The Colour Guide provides the reader with essential knowledge about light and colour.
• Our new Website Critique service enjoys top placements at Google and Yahoo! under the search queries: 'website critique service', and 'website critique'.
• New Article: Scripting and Security: Rosemarie Wise guides the website owner through a minefield of scripting and security issues that help ensure a site is less likely to suffer the unwelcome attention of a malicious intruder.
• Our Homepage header looks even better. We just can't stop making improvements :-)
• The Terms and Conditions of using our Website Critique service have been amended to include the following statement which makes plain critiques may not be plagiarised: (2.3) At no time may anyone state or imply, directly or indirectly, that Website Critiques (in part or whole) are written by another individual. If an extract is quoted from a Website Critique, it must be attributed to the Author and quoted with reference to the Critique document by: name, date, page number; and paragraph.
• A new Express Critique service has been introduced that features all the great benefits of a Summary and Homepage Critique with the added advantage of a 48 hour delivery commitment for those on a tight deadline.
• All Website Critiques now feature longer in-depth replies to user specified issues, and deliver around a 20% overall increase in critique length.
• Payments for Website Critiques have been rationalised to reflect additional benefits, and the new Express Critique service: Summary Critique £30; Homepage Critique: £60; Express Critique £90; Website Critique £120.
• New Freeware: Windowsize 2.1: When you create a website or program, it's crucial you test how it looks on a screen with lower resolution and/or different window size than your's. You could alter your screen's resolution from within the Windows environment, but it's more convenient just to resize your program's or browser's window to the desired width and height using this great tool.
• Our Homepage has been significantly updated with a new header, new colours, and clearer organisation.
• Website Critique Service launches: AbleStable's® Website Critique Service provides straightforward independent analysis and advice for website owners at an affordable price.
• Competitions Area launches: We've some great prizes in our new Competitions Area, sponsored by Computer Arts, the world's best selling creative magazine. The winner and runner up get our premium Showcase Member service free for one year. The overall winner also receives a years subscription to Computer Arts, the world's best selling creative magazine!
• Our Payment Gateway has been significantly updated with the addition of a Website Critique category, an updated information page, and amended terms and conditions to include our great new service. Note: Our Payment Gateway has now been replaced by our Online Store.
• Frequently Asked Questions has been updated with the addition of a dedicated page for Website Critique FAQs.
• Publicity and Press Artwork has been updated with screenshots of our new Homepage.
• The following generic domain names have been added to our Domain Name Portfolio to support our new Website Critique Service: www.site-critic.com, www.sitecritic.co.uk.
• Our Sitemap has been updated to include the Competitions Area, Website Critique Area, and our new Website Critique FAQ page.
