New Column: Are You Artist or Creative?: Our desire to name, define and categorise the world is testament to our need to make sense of it, yet many words are used in such different ways from one person to the next, the more they are considered, the more they confuse. The word 'artist' is one such word.

New Freeware: Toolbar Paint by Edgar Hansen provides a great solution for creative people who wish to design their own button graphics. The program can open toolbar bitmaps with up to 64 buttons, allows you to visually design a toolbar using a wide selection of editing tools, and saves your work as bitmaps or .ico files. A great tool to create your first icon.

New Creative Source File: You may now download the Flash source file of Scott Balay's Scribbler (you will require the full Flash application to open the file, not simply the Flash player).

New Creative Plaything: Enjoy Scott Balay's Scribbler. Not only is it great fun, it also tells us a lot about our own creative characteristics.
New Review: Swift Optimizer reduces the size of swf files making the users experience a more immediate and satisfying one.
The registration and update forms for Members have been improved with the addition of several fields that allow the choice of whether postal or email addresses are shown online.
Our spotlight feature on the homepage has been enlarged to four items which emphasise our community services.
New Freeware: JPEG Comment Editor by Bob Dolan allows you to add comment text such as a copyright notice to the JPG file comment header. This information will be contained within the file, can be read by any program that supports this field, and may also be stamped on the image itself.
New Competition Winners: View the Winning Entries to our competition in association with Computer Arts on the theme of 'Food and Drink'.
Our navigational buttons have all been improved site-wide with our pixel accurate 'house' font that results in significantly sharper text as compared to our previous buttons (note the context menu on the left column).

News about AbleStable

Server Problems Resolved 21 March: Our server suffered a major hardware failure during 20 March and required complete replacement. Our site is now fully operational after our System Administration identified a problem with suexe which also caused significant disruption to form processing and a number of other script related functions. We have also resolved a misconfiguration error on our email server which occurred.

We apologise to all our users for any inconvenience this may have caused during this period.

An unknown source has been sending spam emails with the following subject and body message. This has not originated from AbleStable. Do not open any attachments and immediately delete this message:

Dear user, the management of Ablestable.com mailing system wants to let you know that, Our main mailing server will be temporary unavailable for next two days, to continue receiving mail in these days you have to configure our free auto-forwarding service.

Please, read the attach for further details. For security purposes the attached file is password protected. Password is "67282".

There is nothing wrong with our mailing system and we have never sent an email like this, nor an attachment named 'Attach.zip'. The Spammers are using our address along with thousands of other companies to undermine confidence and to infect computer systems. If you have inadvertently opened an attachment like that above, immediately go to http://securityresponse.symantec.com/ where you will find information about the latest security fixes.

We are monitoring this problem and would like to hear from any users who have received such an email so we can keep a track of this issue: email support@ablestable.com. As a general principle never click on an email attachment unless you know what the file contains.
