2004

Recent
changes to AbleStable made over the calendar month
of August 2004 are listed below. Maintenance entries
are in black text, new content is highlighted:
Last change of month made:
30 September 2004

New
Column: Lego
Builder: Artist and Designer: Some view designers
as somehow less than artists, others think it's the
other way round. What's the true difference between
art and design? Taking Lego as the creative medium
it's easy to see how the boundaries blur...

New Creative Activity:
Brix
is a great way of making simple models in a 3D environment.
You're able to place bricks side by side, one on top
of the other, and move or delete any brick once it's
placed on the stage. With over 35 brick types to choose
from, the possibilities are endless.
New Version Freeware:JFDraw
1.1.1 is released which further improves this
already great multi-platform vector drawing program.
Now with English/Metric global settings, and new options...
New Game:
MazeRace:
race your opponent to the finish (or is that the start
:)
New Tool:
If you run a website, your constant aim is to ensure
it performs without error, and is viewable by as many
people as possible. The Online
HTML Validator makes a valuable contribution in
the process of finding the parts of your web site
that fail to to deliver clean and effective code.
New Article:
Defining
Contemporary Art: Expressing what is new in the
world of art is not as straightforward as it might
at first appear...
New Freeware:
TrayBar:
the best Windows launcher you'll come across. Traybar
by Yoran Bosman makes finding all those folders and
programs a breeze, and comes with all the customisation
options you're ever likely to need.
Creative News:
News Centre:
selected arts and media highlights brought to you
in association with Guardian Unlimited, the premier
Internet news service.
New Column:
Painting
By Numbers: as a boy of around ten I remember
feeling uncomfortable when I was given a black velvet
painting by numbers set. I felt a sham before I popped
open the first tiny plastic tub that held the thick
unnatural coloured pigment...

about AbleStable

Last
Major
Update
Homepage and
Review Update: July 04
You'll
find a major update has been made to our homepage
which now places far greater emphasis on the free
community resources that are available at AbleStable.
The links to our online store are gone which are now
available from our Services page. Each resource area
featured on the homepage now has a small icon and
link with a brief accompanying summary. The Product
Area has been renamed Review Area as this far better
sums up its purpose.
These changes are inline with a general assertion
that AbleStable is now a high quality content-rich
website. The commercial language: products, store
etc, have been demoted in favour of language that
far better sums-up the site's main purpose: to encourage
and support creativity. Hope you like the changes.
If
you have any comments, good or bad, please go to Feedback.
