E
E-Book
A self contained digital
publication that can be read on a variety of hardware
devices. AbleStable® uses the Adobe® eBook
standard to present it's publications as it is cross platform
compatible (may be read on a PC and Mac), and the reader
of which is widely distributed and freely available (to
download the Adobe® eBook reader go to www.adobe.com).
E-Business
Also known as: electronic
commerce, ecommerce, e commerce, e-commerce.
The buying and selling of goods and services over the
internet including electronic funds transfer, smart cards,
digital cash (e.g. Mondex), and other means of carrying
out business over digital networks. Goods may also be
softgoods that are offered as on-line downloads.
E-Commerce
The selling of goods
and services over the internet. These goods may also be
softgoods that are offered as on-line downloads.
Embossing
Stamping a design into
the paper to produce a raised effect.
Encryption
The process in which
information is scrambled so no unauthorised person can
access it.
Ethernet
One
of the most popular standards for connecting PCs to form
a local area network.
Extension
On computers using
MSDOS or Windows, the last part of a filename, after a
dot (period). These systems use the extension for indicating
the type of information that the file contains.
Ezine
Newsletters delivered to subscribers
via e-mail. Ezines are often archived on the web and usually
deal with niche subjects rather than general issues.
