Unicose
Unicode is a character encoding standard developed by
the Unicode Consortium. The aim of the standard is to
provide universal way of encoding characters of any language,
regardless of the computer system, or platform, being
used.
Unix
An
operating system very widely used on medium sized, multi-user
computers, and in top-of-the-range desktop computers.
Upload
Transferring information
from your computer to the Internet.
URL
Universal Resource Locator
- the technical term for Web site address.
The address of a website or document on the Web (e.g.
http://www.ablestable.com).
Users
The collective name for
everyone who uses AbleStable®.
Usenet
A system of news groups.
User
Interface
That part of a computer program that controls interaction
with the user.
UV
Varnishing
A method of adding a gloss finish to printed surfaces.
The advantage of UV varnishing is that it is similar to
printing an extra colour and can be applied to selected
areas to produce special effects. The UV refers to the
Ultra-Violet lamp under which the varnished sheets pass
for rapid drying.
